Mind-Heart Teaching:  Meet Katie

Welcome! I am so happy you're interested in taking a step towards integrating more mindfulness in your life, whether that means personally, for your children, or in the workplace.

I have been in the field of education for over a last decade, long having known my love for working with children. It wasn't until pursuing my Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, however, that I discovered my passion for mindfulness in education. In my culminating research, I explored the intersection of my most heartfelt personal interests: mindfulness, psychology, and childhood learning. My research led me to understanding the most critical components of strong mindfulness programs and the most important factors for a school's SEL success. In my later work, I developed a copyrighted Developmental Mindfulness model, exploring the intersection of neurological milestones and appropriate mindfulness practices. I am passionate about working with families, teachers, and individuals on mindfulness and holistic wellbeing.

I have taught in three international schools and consulted for educators in countries around the world. I have spoken and lead workshops at international education conferences, and have experience working with the IB and programs such as MindUp, Mindful Schools, and MiSP, Positive Education, Second Step, as well as tailoring independent and grassroots programming.

Mindfulness is more than just a popular buzzword, and social-emotional learning is greater than a curriculum category to tick. Instead, these are approaches to life; lenses through which we learn to view our world. You will see how the power of mindfulness is transformative beyond just the personal and professional realms, but in a deep and existential way if we are open to it. When we can better understand our own brains and make sense of the world around us, we can interact more skillfully with both.

From personalized sessions to strategic long-term planning, let me help you integrate mindfulness and social-emotional learning into your classrooms, family, or workplace. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach, which is just one more reason that connection is the cornerstone to our shared thriving.

I invite you to explore my portfolio, previous works, and philosophies. And then, reach out! You can contact me any time for a free consultation and to learn more about how mindfulness is right for you.
